The evil of revenge in the eyes of Islam
Islam is the religion of humanity. There is no place for revenge in Islam. Violence and jealousy is the feeling of being intolerant of something good or wishing for its harm or the destruction of that good thing. A believer can never be intolerant or jealous when he sees the good and welfare of another brother. It will be to one's own detriment. Narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (RA), the beloved Prophet (SAW) said, ‘Stay away from violence. Because violence consumes goodness in the same way that fire consumes wood, that is, it burns. 'Abu Dawood.
According to the narration of Hazrat Abu Hurairah, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘Do not envy one another. Do not be hostile to one another. Don't be different from one another. Rather, all of you, the servants of Allah, become brothers. '
Explaining the great sin of violence, Imam Ghazzali (ra) wrote, ‘The first sin in the world is violence. Seeing the dignity of Baba Adam (AS), Iblis became jealous of him. Jealousy and envy give birth to arrogance in the mind of Iblis. And because of arrogance, he refuses to prostrate to Adam (peace be upon him). As a result, he was cursed and cursed forever. 'Then Imam Ghazzali narrated another incident,' Once Musa (AS) saw a man sitting in the shadow of the Throne of Allah. He thought this person must be very old. That is why he has so much dignity. He said to the great God, O God! What is the name and address of this person? God did not say his identity, Moses! Do you know by what period this man has got so much dignity? He has never been jealous or hostile towards anyone. That is why he has got such a great status from me. '
The character of a hypocrite who suffers from heartburn by seeing others as good. And in such an environment, it is the duty of the believer to be patient. Allah the Almighty said, ‘When something good happens to you, they suffer and when they see any danger from you, they rejoice. (In such a situation) you must work with patience and piety. Then their conspiracy will not harm you. 'Surah Ale Imran, verse 120. There is another work to be done as well; Which Allah has taught us through the beloved Prophet (peace be upon him). Allah says, ‘(O Prophet, you say!) I seek refuge from the envy of the envious when he envies.’ Surah Falaq, verse 5.
One should always seek refuge in Allah in this way. It is not a loss to wish for oneself when one sees something good unless it is to wish evil for others. On the contrary, such an attitude is very admirable in the case of worship and deeds. Evidence of this is found in the hadith of the Prophet (peace be upon him). Narrated from Hazrat Abdullah Ibn Masood (RA), the Prophet (SAW) said, ‘Violence is not permissible for anyone except two people. The first is the person to whom Allah has given wealth and has appointed him to give in the way of Allah. 'Mishkat.
May Allah protect us from vengeance. Eliminate the global coronavirus epidemic.
